The case for oil doesn't need for climate change to be a hoax. It's enough that the damages from energy shortage dwarf the implications of a few extra years of carbon emissions until we transition into nuclear energy to make a very compelling case for a change in policy. It will convince a lot more people because your proposition does not contradict their beliefs.

The climate issue has created the global energy shortage and will continue to exacerbate the problem as long as left wing governments continue their Quixotic crusade to curtail fossil fuel use. There is no "transition" to nuclear likely for decades to come since little progress has been made to construct new nuclear facilities and the lead times are measured in decades rather than years. I am not trying to persuade anyone. They are entitled to their deluded beliefs and no amount of reason will change their minds. Instead, I will benefit from them.

Those beliefs are hurting people. Nobody will benefit from severe shortages, it will only bring suffering.

That is the curious corollary of the climate change crusade. Millions will be hurt and no one will benefit except renewable firm lobbyists and shareholders and, for the time being, fossil fuel investors. The most absurd goal is NetZero, which achieved would see atmospheric CO2 levels fall below the level needed to sustain plant life absent changes in other sources. https://michaela34.substack.com/p/will-netzero-save-humanity?s=w
