Agree, it IS time for this nonsense to stop!

The current situation in the UK is much more critical than North America (you want to avoid finding your country in the same predicament as the UK).

Sadly, the only prospect I can see for such an end, would necessitate a long harsh winter of low temperatures and little wind across western Europe - people have to suffer before our political class will be forced to change course (we were never consulted on these low carbon policies).

It would be useful to know the speaker ( is it Michael ) and the source of the information. I think it a useful tool to persuade people who have bought the lie that our world will end in 2050 if we do not t ban fossil fuels.

I am the speaker and the information is my own work with data from NASA, Engineering toolit, and IPCC reports and of course the definitions of watts and joules.

There will likely be a reduction but the issue is complex. A lot depends on where the electricity comes from and most will come from fossil fuels today. Unless there is a significant increase in nuclear, I don't think we will see much lower emissions as a result of the shift to EV's. So-called renewables comprise a tiny portion of world power generation despite a trillion dollars of investment and are virtually useless for base load since they are intermittent.

I can't remember the exact figures quoted, but the production of EVs and the basic materials processing that go into them, produce considerably more CO2 than the production of a similar ICE vehicle. This does not allow for the possibility of also needing a battery replacement during service life of the car.
