When Justin Trudeau was elected and became Prime Minister Canada had 15 proposed Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) projects. None have been built. The world is desperate for natural gas as United Kingdom and Europe suffer extremely high energy prices. Canada has vast natural gas resources.
Emmanuel Macron asked Canada to ship natural gas to Europe. Olaf Scholz asked Canada to ship natural gas to Europe. Trudeau declined saying there was no “business case for natural gas”. As Trudeau claimed there was “no business case” Qatar and United States companies earned billions shipping natural gas to Europe.
When Trudeau was elected, there were pipeline projects on the books that would have made it possible to ship natural gas and oil to both Eastern Canada and to deep water ports for shipment abroad. Trudeau effectively canceled the already permitted Northern Gateway pipeline, made it impossible for the Energy East pipeline to proceed, and made it his mission to prevent pipeline construction. For political gain, he first stalled the construction of the TransMountain Pipeline expansion causing its owner to give up, then purchased the project and squandered billions to commit to its completion at a cost to taxpayers multiples of what it would have cost in private hands. The project is yet to be complete.
Canada is host to 175 billion barrels of oil and vast quantities of natural gas. Development of those resources could make Canada the world leader in energy and generate enough royalties and taxes at current rates to repay the entire national debt over a decade. Instead, Trudeau pretends CO2 causes climate change, a preposterous claim long since demonstrated to be impossible by credible scientists including the 2020 study by Dieter Schindknecht who simply applied the proven laws of physics to the claim and demonstrated incontrovertibly that (a) a doubling of CO2 from pre-industrial levels would increase global temperatures by no more than ~0.5 degrees Celsius and (b) that CO2 interaction with long wave infrared energy leaving Earth is saturated above 300 ppm CO2 levels (by volume) in the atmosphere.
Trudeau sees political capital in promoting the “climate emergency”, a favorite tack for leftists in Western democracies and the World Economic Forum whose goal is to promote a global authoritarian socialist new world order, something that would end badly for every citizen on Earth except those elites who achieved power in the new order. Trudeau hopes to be one of them.
Trudeau’s ambitions are fueled by his long-time advisor and close friend Gerald Butts, whose left wing ideology is so entrenched he has been described as a “commie in the shadows”. Communists are welcome in Canada as are all points of view, but if the Canadian Liberal Party embraces communism Canadians have a right to know what they are voting for and they should say so.
Butts is brilliant but hopeless deluded by his confusion about the role of CO2 in climate change and his leftist ideology. But you have to admire the fact that at least he dresses and presents himself with a persona much like Leon Trotsky, one of the Communist world’s famous early leaders.
Trotsky, Lenin and Stalin presided over the carnage that ensued after the Russian revolution with the deaths of tens of millions, many of whom were starved to death despite living on some of the most fertile land on Earth.
Other than Communist China, communism has been a disaster for every country that embraced it - Russia, Brazil, Venezuela, and Viet Nam have jaded histories and even China, despite its recent economic successes, has millions of corpses to account for under Chairman Mao. The more recent success of China can be traced to its acceptance of a capitalist approach to business, with many Chinese entrepreneurs becoming billionaires much as they would have done in Silicon Valley had they been in North America - Jack Ma, Ma Hueteng, Robin Li, William Ding and a host of others demonstrated to all Chinese the power of free markets.
It is time for Canadians to wake up to the scam the Liberal inflict on Canadian citizens and toss Trudeau out of office. Canada has enough oil to produce 20 million barrels a day (roughly 7 billion barrels a year) for 25 years. At a price of CAD$100 a barrel and a tax and royalty rate of 30%, development of our oil would generate direct taxes and royalties of CAD$210 billion annually and billions more of indirect government revenue from the taxation of those employed and the profits of the downstream businesses.
Canadian federal government spending is about $300 billion annually (up dramatically under Trudeau). Imagine how much more Canada could spend on education, health care, pensions and infrastructure if two third of government’s current spending was paid for by the oil & gas industry royalties and taxes.
There might be an election this year if fellow climate nutter Jagmeet Singh comes to his sense and decides Canada would be better off without Trudeau. If there is, get out to vote and help get the toxic Liberal party out of office.
How better to follow in his fathers footsteps and do it to Alberta, with cheap electricity Quebec is fine and the carbon neutral carbon tax actually dumps more money into Quebec. Build a pipeline to the east coast? yeah right, better to throw a large Windmill bone to a big donor in the Maritimes and pretend you will do something with hydrogen.... I hope that TMP and Coastal are put into service.. The original TMP from go ahead to oil flow 18 months over virgin territory in the mid 1950's, today with modern communications, GPS, helicopters and modern construction equipment we are lucky if an expansion is completed in 10 years..(probably counted more on donkeys in the 50's, today the donkeys are in Ottawa :(
The climate is always changing . Maybe fossil fuel is an issue . It’s certainly become an ideological religion that’s now difficult to counter with facts . Irregardless, man made carbon can be fixed over time with innovations. The restoration of the ozone layer proves that we can solve environmental problems. Carbon tax won’t fix anything. Innovation will . It might take ... 30 years ? Don’t panic . Don’t hand the keys to Red China .
