According to the article below, "EAs are permitted to work for only 35 hours a week and paid for 42 weeks out of the year." I can't be sure, but it looks like your salary calculation is assuming more days / weeks of work than that.
You may be right. I have tried to estimate the cost of the 11 paid sick days (which requires additional staffing adding to the effective cost per effective employee), absenteeism, overtime pay, EI, CPP, employer share of pension contribution, maternity leave, medical and drug benefits, etc. and think my estimates are in the ballpark of sensibility as to the cost to the employer. I have alwasy been a strong supporter of organized labour and invited the CAW (now Unifor) to organize my automotive parts assembly plants in Canada, and have costed out many union contracts during negotiations, but I recognize there is a lot of room for error. I note that during union negotiations there tends to be a lot of misinformation from both sides of the table, so I based my estimates on the actual union contract in force as it exists.
Believeing anything coming out of CBC is a hudge leap of faith. The schdule Michael presented is from the union contract. Your information as presented appears to anicdotal and therefore has very little credence.
This is the most info I've seen on this stupid dispute. I've been on twitter several times posting "I support Doug Ford and Stephen Lecce ..." The union hides/deceives the public by NOT giving us enough info to make a 'fair' judgement yet they want our support. Your salary schedule does NOT include hours work b/c many are part timers. So maybe $30,000/yr is good if you only work 1M hours a year. I don't know and they wont tell us. But CUPE is willing to have the kids suffer for them. I say private/charter schools.
