The insurrection that wasn't
If Democrats can sell the "insurrection" story to the American public, I have a bridge for sale.
The United States has an enormous defense budget - some $778 billion and larger than the next 11 countries combined. The U.S. military comprises some 1.3 million servicemen.
Yet despite its enormous defense budget, American Democrats believe a few thousand largely unarmed protesters in Washington on January 6, 2021 not only comprised an “insurrection” but also were a “threat to democracy”. You have to wonder what they are smoking.
Democrats have made a laughable spectacle of themselves holding hearings to delve into what happended on January 6, calling it a “threat to democracy”. I guess China, Russia, North Korea and Al Queda just don’t cut it as “threats”. Instead, Democrats live in fear of a handful of people wearing funny costumes who had the gall to enter the halls of Congress, with security people finding it necessary to shoot an unarmed woman to “defend democracy”.
Recently released estimates put the number of “protesters” that were present on Capital Hill on January 6 at about 120,000. That compares to the German army of World War II which amounted to 13.6 million soldiers, yet America didn’t see it necessary to enter WWII until December 8, 1941 (two years into the war) and only after the Pearl Harbour attack. I guess Americans in 1941 were a lot more sanguine about the strength of their democracy than in 2022 where Democrats cringe in fear over the largely peaceful protest they like to call an “insurrection” on January 6th. They also call it a “siege” apparently without knowing that a siege does not involve invading but is a a military operation in which enemy forces surround a town or building, cutting off essential supplies, with the aim of compelling the surrender of those inside. The only supplies cut off from Congress January 6 seem to be supplies of common sense.
The Normandy beachhead in WWII is a useful comparison to the January 6 “insurrection”. Twenty nine thousand Americans were killed and another 106,000 wounded and missing in that spat which the news of the day didn’t describe as a “threat to democracy” and a total of over 550,000 casualties were recorded that day on both sides of the battle.
The January 6 “insurrection” saw five deaths, only one of which resulted from violence that day - poor unarmed Ashli Babbit shot by the capital security forces for the crime of entering the house of Congress. Efforts to attribute the other deaths to violence that day are absurd. I am confident the related autopsies would conclude they died of natural causes. If they were Democrats, they probably succumbed to panic attacks.
Democrats seem to want gun control since they are afraid of their own shadows and live in fear that someone might disagree with their “woke” agenda, their profligate spending or their attack on the energy industry. In a nutshell, it is no surprise the left wing of American politics embraces LGBTQ+ since at heart the Democrats seem to be sissies.
The last actual attack on Washington was in 1812 when the British and Canadians attacked the capital and burned down the capital buildings. At least the motley crew of Americans defending the capital at that time had enough guts to resist and take and estimated 250 casualties before yielding to the better trained and more determined invaders from North of the border. It may be the Democrats should be more fearful of Canada than fearful of Republicans, since Canadians have demonstrated actual competence in both warfare and in dealing with uprisings and the Democrats (despite plenty of warnings that the January 6th protests were likely) were unable to do much but bitch that it was all Donald Trump’s fault (which, in fairness, it may well have been).
According to a recent poll, half of Americans think democracy will fail. That doesn’t surprise me since the Democrat half of the population seems bent on installing an authoritarian socialist government. The other half might put up some resistance and fortunately are largely gun owners who know what guns are for.
storming the capitol, on the heels of Trump saying he won and stop the vote count, is pretty alarming, and the only reason why, if I had to choose, would pick Biden 2.0 over Trump. Trump afterwards attempted to challenge State results, and all but declaring voter fraud. I don't agree with anything Biden is doing (and liked most of what Trump was doing), but if we lose trust in our system, and tolerate dictatorial tendencies, then we lose what unifies us as a country. It isn't about the protesters; they were simply responding to cues from their leader. Its' about Trump. For maybe a year after election results, there were activists/supporters who were trying to convince the world, that the election was stolen. Trump was a sore loser, and his ilk are a malaise of the developing world, where civilized politics has not taken root, and right to rule is acquired by force and deception.
I like this a lot. Send this off to Fox news. (Tucker Carlson & Shaun Hannity). They will appreciate it.
