Why does mainstream media ignore the obvious?

Joe Biden is losing it and needs sympathy and help, not ideological support

I keep seeing evidence of Joe Biden’s declining faculties and my heart goes out to him - it is sad to finally become President after a life of service with that goal in mind and reach the point where your health diminishes the value of that success.

Biden also said his late son Beau died in Iraq. Beau Biden died in Bethesda Maryland from brain cancer. It is traumatic to lose a child, even after they have become and adult, and Biden deserves our sympathy for that loss. But today, Biden holds the most powerful office in the world and Democrats have to face the reality that his lapses are a national security risk.

In a speech on the economy, Biden said war in Iraq caused the current round of inflation, confusing Iraq with Ukraine, and repeating that his son Beau died in Iraq. The news coverage of that event included this clip:

The gaffes are not that serious in their content, but they do point to a serious problem with President Biden’s grasp on reality and cognitive functions.

The National Health Service in the United Kingdom posts the symptoms of mild congnitive impairment, often a precursor to dementia.

Biden is not lying, he may just be confused by a worsening case of early stage dementia from all appearances. His surgeons have a duty of care they seem to be ignoring by letting these signs pass without insisting on treatment. For most people, mild cognitive impairment (which could last for years) does not seem to be debilitating but for someone who has the power to order a nuclear attack, the risks are higher than the United States should take.

With the war in Ukraine raging and Russia threatening to use nuclear weapons, North Korea testing nuclear missiles, and China sabre rattling about possibly invading Taiwan, there are some serious geopolitical issues facing United States and NATO and the Commander in Chief of the world’s largest military needs to have his wits about him to avoid missteps that could lead to calamity. It is time Democrat leaders acted to end President Biden’s embarassing episodes, help him deal with his health problems, and back him up or remove him from office to protect America from serious mistakes. They can have a special event to honor him for his contribution over many years, present him with a special award or medal, and return the key roles of his office to some form of normalcy. Or they can look the other way and face decades of opprobrium from voters if their inaction leads to avoidable chaos.

Mainstream media has a role to play, and it is not soft-pedalling Biden’s problems or becoming his apologists. Mental health problems are commonplace, national security should rank above ideology, and Joe Biden deserves some help. If the New York Times, the Washington Post, CNN, MSNBC and CBS all publicly suggested to Democrats it is time for them to act, it is likely they would act.
