Truth is no longer a virtue in leftist Canada and U.S.A
Rhetoric and ideology have replaced honesty in the halls of power
As the COVID pandemic ended and the scientific research continued to advance, we are learning that Canadian and American leaders lied to their citizens, health “experts” lied to us, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) took advice from the teachers’ unions, and our kids were set back several years in their education with many now incapable of basic arithmetic and reading skills at their grade level. Billions of dollars in COVID relief money intended to keep schools open became a honey pot of corruption for unions in U.S.A. who pay teachers’ union head Randy Weingartner $500,000 a year to indoctrinate children in socialist ideas, gender fluidity, critical race theory and leftist ideology.
Governor Andrew Cuomo killed seniors in New York by forcing COVID infected patients into nursing homes to infect others; Ontario leaders did much the same. Thousands died.
We now know that masks and lockdowns did nothing to stem the spread of COVID, that mRNA vaccines did not prevent either infection or transmission, that ivermectin was a cheap and reliable antiviral dismissed by leaders promoting vaccines that profited donors like Pfizer and Merck, and that many Canadian livelihoods were destroyed by draconian Liberal policies devoid of scientific support that compelled vaccination, lockdowns and masks. Devout Liberals give Trudeau a pass on his stupidity saying he honestly believed he was following the science and protecting Canadians. I have seen no evidence of any “honest belief” underlying anything that has come out of Justin Trudeau.
Trudeau and Biden ignore advances in science that demonstrate that CO2 cannot cause climate change and double down on their anthropogenic global warming nonsense, unwilling to lose the rallying cry for global socialism to something as insignificant as the laws of physics. Our government has abandoned science as the effort to find answers to complex questions in favor of rhetoric espousing answers that cannot be questioned.
This is a breakdown of democracy of consequence. Telling the truth attracts punishment, opprobrium, lost opportunity, career damage, and public vilification. Toeing the party line ensures higher government handouts to friends and family. Paying Volkswagen up to $13 billion of taxpayer money to build a plant that costs half of that in St. Thomas and pretending that Toyota, Mercedes, BMW, Lexus, Genesis, Infiniti, Stellantis, Honda, Tesla, Ford, GM and Hyundai will prefer to buy EV batteries from Volkswagen, a competitor, than from their own supply chains puts stupidity at a premium in Trudeau’s Liberal cabinet. If we had independent journalists we might find out who got kickbacks on a deal that stinks to high heaven.
Caught in a scandal that a Canadian senator was handing out false travel documents Minister Harjit Saijhan defends himself by admitting he doesn’t read emails saying he was “too busy”. Busy doing what? He is Minister of International Development (as if Canada had the ability to develop any other country) and there is no evidence he has done anything but collect an indexed pension and spout Liberal talking points since appointed. His claim to be the architect of “Operation Medusa” in Kandahar was debunked as an outright lie, with Saijhan only later to admit his embellishment of his role. Outright lies are the stock in trade of Canada’s Liberal leaders.
Canada now suffers an avoidable housing crisis, high inflation, excess national debt, rising interest rates, and poor education outcomes. What part of those outcomes can be called “accomplishments” by our Liberal government. What Trudeau calls “accomplishments” is typically raising taxes, giving pennies back to taxpayers through “programs” and claiming he “has our backs”, and mandating use of “pronouns” not part of the English grammar I learned in school. I wouldn’t turn my back on Trudeau at any time. Trudeau’s destructive “carbon tax” punishes Canadians for heating thier homes, fueling their cars, going to work, or eating meat. The PBO has now outed the reality that Trudeau’s claim the carbon tax was “revenue neutral” was another outright lie.
Canada needs and end to Liberal rule. The options may be unpleasant to some but are better than the disease of more Trudeau. Voters need to pay attention to policy platforms and stop voting for a party based soley on its “brand” and “leader” often without as much as a cursory review of the qualifications and competences of the candidates in their local ridings. Statements like “I am a Liberal” or “I am a Conservative” are the absence of voter integrity and the death of representative government. Vote for people you trust, not for historic brands that no longer link to historic values.
And get rid of Trudeau. His legacy will be a worse future for your children.
We simply are no longer competitive ... that should be reason enough to throw the bums out :

You hit the nail on the head! The one big weakness in Democracy is the vote. It is our one chance (every 4 years) to change. That is NOT enough. What else can be done to stop the destructiveness of a party & the suffering they mpose?
