Secession is a real option for both Texas and Alberta
Escaping left wing tyranny would benefit every citizen of those jurisdictions
Texas is headed towards a referendum to explore secession from the United States of America. Host to most of America’s energy resources, Texans would be far better off as an independent country than under the thumb of a left wing tyranny which is a fair description of the Biden administration. Texas has a state GDP of US$2 trillion and per capita GDP of ~US$69,000. That is materially higher than the per capita GDP of the United States as a whole, which is ~US$65,000. It would be even higher but for the repressive “climate change” regime promoted by the Biden administration without a scintilla of “science” supporting that nonsensical theory which violates the laws of physics despite the legions of so-called “climate scientists” who claim CO2 can cause global warming.
Alberta faces similar left wing tyranny under the Trudeau Liberals whose climate change rhetoric knows no bounds and is not only devoid of scientific reality but also of common sense. Alberta has a Provincial GDP of about CDN$330 billion and a per capita GDP of about CDN$78,000, the largest of any State or Province.
Like Texas, Alberta is host to the bulk of Canada’s energy resources and shares the same burden under Trudeau as Texas does under Biden, an oppressive federal government so committed to global socialism the well-being of its citizens is of no consequence. Every Albertan would benefit from freedom from the Trudeau albatross.
Neither the founding fathers of the American republic nor the fathers of Confederation could have dreamed of a day when the Ottawa government was so wrong so often and so deluded that they believe CO2 (an essential element of life on this planet which is at a dangerously low atmospheric concentration right now) can cause “global warming”. That theory is nonsense and even if it had any merit (which it does not) there is nothing, literally nothing, Canada could do to alter the course of global climate.
Texas and Alberta should leave gracefully rather than fight the uphill battle of persuading climate zealots of the reality that they are misguided, a task equal to persuading the Pope that there is no “God”. Americans and Canadians would miss Texas and Alberta but I doubt they would miss us.
As an Albertan, I'm on board for succession. From the first Trudeau to the second, Alberta has never been recognized as other provinces are, like Quebec and Ontario. We are a differed culture of hard work and do it yourself attitudes to get stuff done!
The current Trudeau regime and the Singh puppet have no problem implementing emergency acts for when the people disagree with their agenda (i.e. trucker blockade!). There is no win win for staying within the confederation for Alberta. I am sure the trudeau regime is eyeing energy profits and more climate false claim policies.
