Brian Mulroney, former Conservative Prime Minister for the longest period of Conservative government in Canadian history, died at 84. History will remember him for his enormous contribution to Canada, his almost photographic memory and compassion for all those who he came to know, and his love of Canada.
He will also be remembered as a leader who was deluded by the late Maurice Strong into the belief that carbon dioxide (CO2) causes climate change, and for his leadership of Canada into a movement of those determined to curb Canada’s miniscule CO2 emissions with enormous damage to Canada in general and to Alberta, Saskatchewan and B.C. in particular.
Well intentioned leaders, motivated solely by their love of country and desire to build a stronger Canada, can still damage our country, if they are misinformed or manipulated by ideologues with their own agenda. Maurice Strong’s agenda was to promote Communism, not only in Canada but also worldwide, driven by concerns over income and wealth inequality. Like most Communists, Strong could not fathom the concept that damaging the members of society that create the wealth to redistribute their wealth to less fortunate citizens always reduces the total wealth harming not only the successful but also the less fortunate.
A successful capitalist, Strong grew up in poverty and had compassion for the poorest. He had a specious but earnest belief that capitalism needed to be brought down for the benefit of humanity, and was a founder not only of the Club of Rome but also of the World Economic Forum (WEF) now led by Klaus Schwab. Strong famously stated:
“Isn’t the only hope for the planet that the industrialized civilizations collapse? Isn’t it our responsibility to bring that about?”
Former Prime Minister Mulroney was the victim of Strong’s misinformation, however earnestly believed. It is plain and obvious that CO2 does not cause catastrophic climate change, and the plan to use fears of climate change to rally support for a global socialist autocracy was Strong’s dream and Mulroney’s downfall. Mulroney’s legacy will be the great accomplishments he did achieve that made Canada stronger, but the stain on his copy book - leading Canada into the “climate change” driven elite that now meets in Davos annually to plot the downfall of the world economy - cannot be erased from history books.
I am hopeful that Pierre Poilievre will exhibit the strong leadership abilities that were Mulroney’s trademark while eschewing the “climate change” nonsense that has causes so much damage to Canada. If he does, there is hope for a reversal of the toxic policies enacted by Justin Trudeau since his 2015 election and subsequent time in the office of Prime Minister, and a way forward that builds Canada’s resource industry and prosperity for Candians free from socialist ideology.
Yes the early 80's were a good time with Brian, Reagan and Thatcher, quite the team, but many dont remember them so well Of course the GST, a way to reduce imports to help Canadian production, mostly hated and helped get Chretien into power. WRT climate change I enjoyed this podcast, a Quebecer who doesnt believe in climate change is a rarity, good info, I guess new to her, so she seem surprised. She does a great job of documenting many issues quite accurately.
