For many people, kids are a large expense and a major inconvenience. With birth control pills and easy abortions many choose not to have kids. In Canada the Govt incentivizes people to have kids. Now many people intentially come to Canada to have the child, quality for monthly payments, cheap university, free health care, OAS, and later get their parents citizenship. Bottom line, why is fewer kids a problem? China did it for many years with the 1 child program. Their problems over 40+ years? Most of the problems in the world due to, too many people... The current solution, massive immigration also has many problems, the most obvious, expensive housing... Canada and the US seemed to do quite well when their populations were 50% of what they are today, so no danger of declining.....and so what if they do....

I think the low interest rates / high house prices also has an effect on fertility, speaking mainly from an Australian perspective as I'm not familiar with US housing costs. For many, it's a choice between getting on the housing ladder or having kids. Sadly, it also makes socialism more attractive. IMHO, home ownership fosters conservative values.

" It is clear that if 100% of pregnancies resulted in abortion society would suffer, to make the extreme case for finding the right balance, and if no pregnancies were aborted many women would suffer or lose their lives as a result. " I agree with your economic comments but the above statement is factually and medically untrue. Very very few women die giving birth and women do not suffer from it . In the USA and Canada pro choice really means abortion only. Our governments do nothing to help the women who chose to give birth and raise the child or give it up for adoption. Forcing or encouraging women to have an abortion is anti women and harmful to our society. Killing an unborn child is never the right solution . It is time to put them before us. Johnny in Ottawa

If you look around you, you will see the agendas of the WEF being exercised throughout the western world at a frightening pace - the primary objectives being CONTROL & population REDUCTION.

As for Republicans being anti immigration, I've got to disagree (at least from what I've seen). We have the same problems in the UK - the wrong type of immigration!

If someone has the required abilities & shared values, which benefit the host country, and lead to net gain / contribution to society, then there should be no grounds for objection.

But that's not what is happening - mass immigration is being encouraged by Soros backed entities, with the objective of displacing & causing maximum disruption to western societies.

The US Southern Border is a disaster - but the Dems don't care - so long as they can shift the demographics sufficiently to keep them in power indefinitely on a manifesto of taxpayer funded welfare (how does that work???).

Mass illegal immigration, comes at great cost & risk. At best they are economic migrants who intend to live off lifelong taxpayers, whilst placing our services & infrastructure under immense pressure - at worst, many of these people actually hate western values - clues to their contempt can be seen in their unwillingness to learn or speak the local language and a complete disregard for our laws.

Illegal immigration (unless flown in on a plane by a left wing / Soros sympathetic govts), is by definition - an invasion - an attack on international borders & the laws of that country.

You can test this theory next time you wish to visit another country - charge the passport control and see what happens!

Western society is literally collapsing - terminal decline - our shared enemies are circling - I don't hold much hope of rectifying this situation now.

Most of the immigration you mention are people who are looking for a better life, their countries are usually totally messed up, and unfortunately its often the people who messed up their own countries that end up messing up where ever they go.... Corruption and high population are real problems in the world, importing more of these 2 problems is only OK if you are rich and can sit back and watch it, but not so much for the average person...
